The article, titled “Need to Hire an Architect or Designer? Try Dumbo,” spotlighted the neighborhood’s growing concentration of more than 160 architecture and design firms, along with DUMBO Design Day’s expanding role within NYCxDESIGN Week programming.
At the center of this year’s programming was a major milestone for the neighborhood: the unveiling of DUMBO’s official Design District logo by Snøhetta.
During DUMBO Design Day 2026, Snøhetta revealed the neighborhood’s new Design District identity, commissioned by Two Trees Management and Team DUMBO.
The new logo reflects DUMBO’s evolution as a global creative destination while staying rooted in the neighborhood’s industrial history and architectural character. Inspired by the iconic arches and infrastructure that define the Brooklyn waterfront, the identity balances structure and softness, mirroring the diverse creative practices that call DUMBO home.
The unveiling also coincided with the opening of Snøhetta’s new 25,000-square-foot headquarters at 55 Washington Street in DUMBO, further strengthening the neighborhood’s reputation as a hub for architecture, design, and innovation.

Recently recognized as an official New York City Design District, DUMBO is now home to more than 160 architecture and design businesses, making it one of the city’s most concentrated creative ecosystems.
Many of those firms operate inside DUMBO’s historic office buildings along the Brooklyn waterfront — spaces managed by Two Trees Management that have become home to architects, creative agencies, furniture brands, design studios, and technology companies drawn to the neighborhood’s waterfront location, skyline views, natural light, industrial scale, and collaborative energy.
Throughout NYCxDESIGN Week, DUMBO transformed into a walkable showcase of New York design culture, opening studio doors to the public and hosting conversations around art, architecture, urbanism, and creativity.

This year’s programming featured more than 50 events across the neighborhood, bringing together architects, designers, artists, students, and creatives for a full day of conversations, installations, open studios, and community gatherings across DUMBO’s waterfront office buildings and public spaces.
Highlights included:
Studios across the neighborhood opened their doors throughout the day, offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and reinforcing DUMBO’s identity as a living, working design community.

What continues to distinguish DUMBO from other creative neighborhoods in New York City is the overlap between professional and neighborhood life. Many of the architects, designers, and founders who work in DUMBO also live nearby, creating an environment where collaboration extends beyond the office.
That energy was especially visible during DUMBO Design Day, when the neighborhood itself became an immersive design experience, from waterfront office buildings and converted warehouses to public plazas, retail spaces, and open-air installations.
For companies exploring office space in Brooklyn, the event also offered a firsthand look at why so many architecture firms, creative studios, and technology companies continue to relocate to DUMBO. The neighborhood’s mix of historic character, waterfront views, transit access, and creative community has made it one of the most sought-after destinations for office space in New York City.
As DUMBO’s design community continues to grow, DUMBO Design Day is quickly becoming one of the defining creative events of NYCxDESIGN Week — and a reflection of the neighborhood’s expanding influence on the global design landscape.
For firms ready to be part of what's happening in DUMBO, space is available now at 45 Main Street, 55 Washington Street, and 20 Jay Street. Companies relocating from Manhattan may also qualify for REAP, New York City's relocation tax incentive program, worth up to $3,000 per employee annually.
